Qualcomm laajentaa 5G:n käyttömahdollisuuksia ja esittelee teollisiin tarpeisiin optimoidun 5G-modeemin

21. toukokuuta 2021 – Qualcomm Technologies on julkistanut yhtiön ensimmäisen 5G-modeemin, joka on kehitetty erityisesti teollisen IoT:n (IIoT) käyttötarpeisiin. Qualcomm 315 5G IoT Modem on kokonaisvaltainen ratkaisu, joka tukee LTE- ja 5G-laitteiden kehittämistä IoT-ekosysteemiin, kiihdyttää 5G:n käyttöönottoa teollisissa ympäristöissä sekä laajentaa 5G:n käyttömahdollisuuksia.

5G on suunniteltu monikäyttöiseksi yhteydeksi ja tällä hetkellä sen käyttöönottonopeus vauhdittaa jo konkreettisesti uusien IoT-sovellusten syntyä. Digitaalisen muutoksen vauhdittajana toimiva Qualcomm Technologies on eturintamassa kehittämässä uusia ratkaisuja, joiden avulla jo olemassa olevat IoT-ratkaisut siirtyvät 5G-aikaan.

Nykyaikaisen IoT:n on tarkoitus päivittää langallisia yhteyksiä käyttävät tehtaat langattomilla yhteyksillä, jotka tukevat sekä LTE- että 5G-tekniikoita. Qualcomm 315 5G IoT Modem on suunniteltu teollisuuden tarpeisiin: se sisältää gigabittiluokan tiedonsiirtonopeuden, vie vähän virtaa eikä kärsi lämmöstä. Se on suunniteltu vastaamaan monen toimialan erityistarpeita, mukaan lukien vähittäiskauppa, energia, automaatio ja valmistus, maanviljely, rakentaminen tai kaivosteollisuus.

Qualcomm 315 5G IoT Modem palvelee laadukkaita IoT-laajakaistaratkaisuja ja täydentää Qualcomm Technologiesin nykyistä LTE IoT -modeemivalikoimaa 5G:n yleistyessä globaalisti. Se on suunniteltu tarjoamaan ns. pin to pin -yhteensopiva ratkaisu nykyisille LTE-ratkaisuille. Se mahdollistaa niiden vaivattoman päivittämisen nykyiseen laitteistoon, minimoi muutostarpeet ja kustannukset sekä tarjoaa saumattoman siirtymisen LTE:stä 5G:hen.

The Qualcomm 315 5G IoT Modem supports global 5G NR sub-6GHz bands and operates in stand-alone (SA) only mode, with the capability to switch to LTE as needed, and can be deployed over private or public 5G networks, leveraging network slicing or in isolation. This solution is optimal for IoT applications that can be seamlessly integrated with existing ethernet and wired technologies. The new modem comes with extended life software and hardware maintenance and support, prolonging IoT devices for the duration of their life span.
